DJ Mag’s April 2016 issue and website features its well-respected Top 100 Clubs rundown. Venues with Funktion-One sound systems have a healthy showing, with 28 out of the 100 featuring Funktion-One sound. Over the next week, we’re going to share the results along with snippets from the mag.

No. 58 Lux (Lisbon)
Capacity 3,000
In every sense of the word, Lux (main image) is a big club – it’s big with the locals, big with international celebrities from music and film and big in that it holds 3,000 ravers at any one time. The last 12-months have been arguably the club’s finest to date, with a cool selection of underground events… as such, this might look like a palatial palace inside and out, but the musical offerings are as clued up and esoteric as they come.
No. 69 Mint Club (Leeds)
Capacity 500
If walls could talk, those in Mint would have more than a few yarns to spin. This is where the first Back to Basics event took place, with Derrick Carter jacking it out in 1989. While fashions and fads have changed, the aim of the club hasn’t shifted since that day – bringing quality, forward-thinking house and techno to the good people of Yorkshire… with sets powered by a well-engineered Funktion-One sound system.
No. 70 Drai’s Beachclub-Nightclub (Las Vegas)
Capacity 4,700
Countless star-studded nights, 60,000 sq ft, two pools, 15 luxury mezzanine level cabanas, 7,000 sq ft of high definition LED video screens, an 80-sided LED disco ball, four full service bars… welcome to Drai’s Beachclub-Nightclub in (you guessed it!) Las Vegas.
No. 72 Cielo (New York)
Capacity 325
Resistant to the ongoing EDM tornado in the States, ex-Pacha resident Nicolas Matar’s club regularly hosts François K’s Deep Space parties and fellow Big Apple countrymen, Louie Vega. Danny Krivit and Def Mix’s big cheeses David Morales and Hector Romero… where today’s generation come to see the real deal.
No. 73 E11even (Miami)
Capacity 1,000
Best New Concept of 2015… bookings read like this: Drake, Jamie Foxx, P Diddy, Diplo, Skrillex. DJ Snake, Carnage, Dash Berlin, A-Trak, Benny Benassi, Martin Solveig, Bervo, Chuckie and many more DJs, artists and performers.
No. 75 Concrete (Paris)
Capacity 1,200
Since opening in 2011, two years after the city’s nightlife was described as ‘dead’, Concrete and its legendary all day parties have put Paris back on the map.
No.87 Phonox (London)
Capacity 600
Round the corner from Brixton Academy there’s a nightclub doorway. From the outside you’d think it’s a small gaff, but inside it’s a veritable Doctor Who’s Tardis!
No. 94 Stealth Nottingham
Capacity 660
Ever since 2004, Stealth has been the leading light of the Midlands club scene. Variety is king at this Funktion-One powered club… the last 12 months have been another non-stop rollercoaster of dance-based fun.
No.99 Space Ibiza New York
Capacity 1,400
Sprawled across the corner of West 50th Street and 12th Avenue, Space Ibiza New York brings a bit of the Balearic island’s best vibes to the city that never sleeps.
