Following outings at several other festivals this summer, the loudspeaker manufacturer introduced its latest system to Boomtown Fair

Funktion-One joined forces with long term rental partner, Audio Feed, to deliver Vero VX sound to the Metropolis District – on its main stage, Pagoda Plaza. Company founder Tony Andrews was onsite to oversee the system’s latest deployment.

Launched at Prolight + Sound 2019 in April, Vero VX offers the same performance characteristics and ease of deployment as the larger Vero system in a footprint that’s around 35% smaller. The Vero VX system comprises VX90 full-range vertical array elements, V124 or V221 bass enclosures, amp racks, fly bars, transport dollies, ground stack hardware, cabling and Projection predictive software.

Tony Andrews worked closely with Audio Feed’s Oz Jefferies and his team to ensure Vero VX was primed for the best possible audio delivery. A deluge of rain made setup trickier than normal and high winds during the live days resulted in the stage being closed for two hours as a precautionary measure. Despite the challenging conditions, Vero VX impressed.

Jefferies said: “VX is equipped for touring applications. The cabinets are simple to push onto dollies, pick up and hang. It’s essentially a plug and play system, which makes our job easier. You can push it off a van, plug it in and you’re good to go.”

Discussing the sound, Jefferies added: “I’ve received emails from engineers saying Vero VX is one of the best systems they’ve ever worked on – so it’s been a satisfying process, especially having been involved closely in the R&D and demo process. A good loudspeaker performs well in any environment and Vero VX is particularly good for both electronic and live music. The vocal range is amazing.”
